Glenn's Story

Glenn's Story

When remembering his brother Glenn, Allen Martin says simply and proudly, "He never had much, but he didn't need much either. Friends, family and fun...that was Glenn." He remembers Glenn's love of the outdoors, with a particular fondness for fishing and hunting.

Allen says his brother told him the working conditions in the Westray mine weren't safe and feels Glenn probably would've quit - but he wasn't given the opportunity. On May 9th, 1992, Glenn Martin was one of 26 men killed in the Westray mine disaster.
